Formerly the studio of photographer Frank Horvat (1928-2020), the Studio houses his entire archive and works to promote and preserve his work. The Studio’s vocation is to promote dialogue between contemporary creation and the history of photography.

Since 2021, the Studio has invited a contemporary artist to engage in an in situ dialogue with the work of Frank Horvat, his collection of prints by other photographers and his studio. Each ar- tist, using his or her own language, discovers forgotten chapters in Frank Horvat’s body of work, which they parallel with their own practice. Each exhibition offers a new perspective on Frank Horvat’s archive.

Studio Frank Horvat has joined forces with Éditions Process to offer a collection of books retracing these exhibitions.
For the 5th edition of Dialogue, Fiammetta Horvat invites curator Emilia Genuardi to think about the link between Frank Horvat’s archives and contemporary photography. She invited the artist duo Edouard Taufenbach and Bastien Pourtout.

 Their project, Studio Échos, imagines linking the two places in the photographer’s life by invoking, in the Boulogne-Billancourt studio, his house in Cotignac in Var. Through projection and staging, their installation takes the form of a journey into Frank Horvat’s memory and images, evoking the photographer’s intimate life and the porosity between personal and professional in creation.
