Le Bleu du ciel

This project about the flight of the swallow is the story of a journey. It starts with a childhood memory, the music of these birds in the sky and their gathering on the electric wires before their great departure for Africa, announcing the end of summer. From the subject of the swallow, Edouard and Régis seek to to develop a sensitive representation of the passage of time, of movement, and of exchanges and circulations within a space. On the scale of flight, the movement of the swallows in the sky is the object of a fascination that feeds the imagination. The birds seem to follow a score made up of breaks, accelerations and silences, drawing abstract forms like signs to be interpreted. This project is an experiment at the crossroads of artistic and scientific uses of the photographic and scientific uses of the photographic and musical mediums. Between formal rigour and subjective narration, the research deploys an approach in which the swallow in flight as a vector of strength, gives form and substance to an insatiable desire for freedom with the sky as a perspective. Without ever illustrating each other, image and music chase each other, successively overtaking each other. An exercise in acrobatics in which the repetition of rhythms and motifs based on the composition of iterative music dialogues with the music of the other.
From one square to another, from one bar to another, from one swallow to another, Le Bleu du ciel draws spaces of freedom, building a feeling of movement, of speed, of breaks in lines, so characteristic of the swallows' flight.
